Design-Apart invites you to join us for an evening of Italian food and wine to celebrate the launch of our new limited edition series of objects, produced in collaboration with leading artist, designers, and manufacturers. Founder of Design-Apart, Diego Paccagnella and Owner of Secondome Gallery Rome, Claudia Pignatale will present the collection and introduce these objets d'art with a dynamic discussion.
We're delighted to present this new limited edition, an artist collection of glass pieces entitled "Circus", designed by Lanzavecchia +Wai studio, commissioned and produced by the Rome based gallery Secondome.
Design-Apart reflects our mission to create an accessible marketplace of artisanal Italian objects and craftsmanship for an international set of customers passionate about intelligent design.
The hosts of the salon, Design-Apart deliver bespoke Italian design around the world. Their artisan team integrates advanced technologies with ancient traditions, producing furniture, fixtures, and objects of uncommon beauty. Design-Apart’s services offer full interior transformations, made-to-measure furniture and accessories, and limited edition artist pieces available online. Beginning with Italy and the US, our goal is to establish living showrooms in cities across the world. These showrooms, created by Italy’s top designers and manufacturers, are the platform in which we live, cook, work, and invite artists, chefs, architects and clients to create and collaborate with us.
Italian architect and entrepreneur Claudia Pignatale founded Secondome Gallery in Rome, Italy in 2006. Championing emerging and established contemporary designers and innovative projects, Pignatale’s mission is to reinvigorate central Rome’s design scene and to position Secondome as a world-class design destination.
Secondome focuses primarily on young, independent Italian makers. In addition to its gallery work, Secondome has also become a brand in and of itself by commissioning and producing its own design editions. Pignatale is particularly passionate about collaborating with future and up and coming design stars under the age of forty. The gallery’s design roster includes Kiki Van Eijk, Fabrica, Sam Baron, Nucleo, Nigel Coates, Andrea Salvetti, Dum Dum, and Rolf Sachs among others.

is a creative collaboration between
Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai.
To them, being designers means being researchers, engineers, craftsmen and story-tellers all at the same time.
Lanzavecchia + Wai have collectively garnered attention and accolades in major design platforms such as the SaloneSatellite ,Fuori Salone and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan (IT), MAXXI – the National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome (IT), Dubai (UAE), DepotBasel (CH), Interieur Kortrijk (BE), IMM in Cologne (DE), Tokyo Design Week (JP) and Beijing Design Week (CN).
Their work have also been represented and promoted in internationally renowned periodicals like *Wallpaper, Newsweek, FRAME, Flash Art, Form, Metropolis, ICON, DAMn, Items etc…
Their work spans from limited editions for galleries and museums, to mass products for major companies, to special commissions for brands like Alcantara, Samsonite and Mercedes Benz.
Lanzavecchia + Wai was officially established at the end of 2009, during a 3-month residency, as part of the Time to Design – New Talent award, at the Danish Art
Workshops to realize their inaugural collection “Spaziale Series: New Expressions of Skin and Structure”.
Their recent accomplishments include being featured by Newsweek as one of the “Designers of the Future”, in June 2012, and shortlisted for
Wallpaper* Design Awards 2013 –
“Life-enhancer of the Year”

Born in La Spezia, Italy, in 1939, Pesce studied Architecture at the University of Venice between 1958 to 1963 and was a participant in Gruppo N, an early collective concerned with programmed art patterned after the Bauhaus.
Pesce’s work is featured in over 30 permanent collections of the most important museums in the world, such as MoMa of New York and San Francisco, Metropolitan Museum in New York, Vitra Museum in Germany, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Pompidou Center and Musee des Arts Décoratifs of Louvre in Paris; he exhibits art in galleries world wide.
Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974. Times magazine included Hayon as one of the 100 most relevant creators of our times and Wallpaper magazine has listed him as one of the most influential creators of the last decade. With offices in Italy, Spain and UK, Hayon’s main interest is to find challenges and new perspectives. His vision blurrs the lines between art, decoration and design bringing back a renaissance in finely-crafted, intricate objects within the context of contemporary design culture: creating furniture, product, interiors, sculptures and art Installations.
His unique style was first fully exposed in ‘Mediterranean Digital Baroque’ at London’s David Gill Gallery, followed by many exhibitions and installations set up in major galleries and museums worldwide. His concern for the conservation of craft skills and his way of challenging design has led him to develop renowned work for Baccarat, Fritz Hansen, The Groningen Museum, Bisazza, Bosa, La Terraza del Casino, Lladró, Magis, Established & Sons and Faberge among many others.
His influence and variety has received important International awards such as Elle Deco International Award 2006, Elle Deco Germany: ‘Best International Designer’ 2008, ‘BEST DESIGNER’ for ELLE DECO JAPAN in 2008, AD RUSSIA ‘DESIGNER OF THE YEAR’ 2009, MAISON OBJET DESIGNER OF THE YEAR 2010. In 2008, Jaime was guest of honor at Belgium’s Interieur Biennial, the youngest person ever to receive the accolade
