In her new exhibition, Opening Night, Jeanne Susplugas dives beneath the surface of our fast-paced, ever-consuming society to discern the effects such a lifestyle has upon the human psyche. She examines an individual trapped within such a society and afflicted by addiction, obsessive-compulsive tendencies and a sensation of imprisonment. However, she leaves a certain aura of doubt in her depiction of mental stability, allowing her subject to vacillate between sanity and instability. Opening Night marks a fundamental turning point in the artist's work, for it is the first time that the performance itself becomes the exhibition.

The Salon will take place at the Emily Harvey Foundation, the exhibition's Soho home. Opening Night plays upon the history of the gallery, a facet in the performing art scene and the last co-op established by the artist George Maciunas (a founding member of the FLUXUS movement, who even turned his wedding into an art performance there).
